Taking the tour of the Barossa Valley in South Australia was one of the best trips that I have ever had. Unfortunately the landscape was a bit bare after the big fires that spread through the country side but the new green growth ender the black ashes was a nice sign to see. The Barossa Valley winery tours are held each day and you can charter a coach or get into one of the group tours to go and taste the wines and see the country side. The tour is a full day but there is plenty to eat and drink along the way so bring some extra money to buy the wines that you like the most.

Adelaide also has one of the very best house boat tours that travel up the rivers for many miles so that you can enjoy the scenery as well as the quiet solitude that you little floating fortress gives you. There are houseboats of various sizes to suit couples, families or large groups depending on what you would like and they are all very luxurious and well designed in comfort and style. Another great way to tour the country is one the train that runs through all of the states. There are several ways to travel around Australia and through the state of South Australia. I like to drive around with a car rental Adelaide airport vehicle so that I don’t miss out on anywhere to stop. Unlike the house boat or the train with a car you can go wherever you please as long as it is on a drivable road.

The biggest attraction about traveling to Adelaide was the stone buildings from the settlement era which I had an interest in after my degree in architecture. The amazing thing is that designs have come and gone for houses and buildings over the last two hundred years yet these stone buildings were still very practical and were being used efficiently as well as for many different reasons. Even though I don’t go on holidays to stare at buildings all day I still appreciate the quality that the old builders put into these masterpieces.

The Torrens River is lined with parks and is a very nice way to spend some time in the sun and enjoying the good weather that Adelaide has so much off. Further south at the mouth of the river is a nice spot on the beach where I spent a lot of time in the surf and making sand castles with my kids. The Adelaide beaches are some of the nicest that I have come across in Australia because the sands are bright white and clear of debris plus the water there are still a crystal blue.

Driving tours of Adelaide is one option where you can get to see a lot of the city while you drive around in comfort. Car rental Adelaide airport companies have a strong fleet of cars to loan and are never short of good quality options for your choice of cars.
